Dreams Really Do Come True

Walt Disney World isn't just for children! Husband and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Orlando with some good friends this month and had an amazing time! Thankfully, we were able go during a time of year that is less busy than others, so we didn't have to spend hours and hours waiting in line. Just hours!

I hadn't been to Disney World since I was in high school and had forgotten the meticulous attention to detail. The first ride that really caught my attention was the Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios. The life size toys were amazing! I couldn't stop thinking about how much fun it would be to bring my nieces here. They would love it!

We spent most of our days visiting either Magic Kingdom, MGM or Animal Kingdom and spent our afternoons and nights at Epcot, eating and drinking around the world.

The countries featured at Epcot are:

I spent a lot of time enjoying chocolate croissants at the French patisserie and glasses of a sparkling red wine called Rosa Regale. How decadent! The funniest part was that as we were leisurely spending our days wondering around Disney, we were missing a HUGE snowstorm at home. It really was a perfect vacation!

My Top 9 of 2009

As the year comes to an end, I wanted to take opportunity to reflect achievements and events of the past year

  1. Attended my first National DU convention with Chris and my parents and had a fabulous time in Denver, CO.
  2. Spent almost a week in Alaska with Chris, my parents and his parents, saw tons of wildlife, heard the sound of a glacier cracking and went on a successful whale/water wildlife watching outing. Amazing!
  3. Spent a week in Florida with great friends, got to know Walt Disney World like the back of my hand and got to know our friends even better!
  4. Achieved Weight Watchers Lifetime Status. Free meetings, here I come!
  5. Lost 30 pounds. Gained 10 back. Sign. The journey continues...
  6. Started a blog – Ta-da! BTW, thanks for reading!
  7. Completed a year of Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping and signed up for another year. I am a kickboxing machine!
  8. Discovered It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I had no idea what I was missing. Devilishly hilarious!
  9. Completed a significant project at work (details are boring to nearly anyone else aside from myself).

Getting Gorgeous for Le$$

There was an awesome article in June 2009 issue of Self called Getting Gorgeous for Le$$.  (Yes, I know that it is December.  I finally had time to catch up on my magazine reading this weekend.  Don't judge me.)

The featured some great new uses for everyday items:

Visine Eye Drops

  • Turn your eye shadow into eye liner by adding two drops and then apply like liquid liner.
  • Dab on a blemish to reduce redness.  (It doesn't only take the red out of eyes!)
Johnson's Baby Powder
  • Use as a dry shampoo by sprinkling it into roots so it can absorb the oil.
  • Thicken eyelashes by using an eye shadow brush to dust lashes between layers of mascara.
Q-Tips
  • Smudge eye liner after application for a smokier, sexy look.
  • Dip Q-Tips in lip or eye colors and then store them in a Ziploc bag to create disposable colors applications that are perfect for traveling.
Hydrogen Peroxide
  • The 3% formula of hydrogen peroxide has been approved by the FDA to be used as mouthwash.  It also brightens teeth!
  • Prevent pimples by applying hydrogen peroxide to "problem areas" with a cotton ball.  It will kill bacteria that causes acne.
Vaseline
  • Use a dab on an old toothbrush and rub over lips in circular motion to exfoliate for a smooth smile.
  • Rub onto cuticles every night to heal cracked cuticles.
Toothpaste
  • White toothpaste (not gels) has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can be applied to pimples before bed to reduce them in size.
  • Red toothpaste will plump up lips like Lip Venom if it is smeared on lips for a couple seconds and then wiped off.  The cinnamon in the paste acts as an irritant, which makes lips swell slightly (and safely!).

Happy Savings!
