Husband and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Orlando with some good friends this month and had an amazing time! Thankfully, we were able go during a time of year that is less busy than others, so we didn't have to spend hours and hours waiting in line. Just hours!<br /><img src="file:///C:/Users/Joy/Pictures/Florida/DCIM/DSCN0009.JPG" alt="" /><br />I hadn't been to Disney World since I was in high school and had forgotten the meticulous attention to detail. The first ride that really caught my attention was the Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios. The life size toys were amazing! I couldn't stop thinking about how much fun it would be to bring my nieces here. They would love it!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuH8U0HPFyspXRcLVWMAlmrXOxEGJD1Ws2ag6vfMAIyZWAgJF-ZXKjbuONzwv6C_Fnm1yOLsXTMLuPnzYuUo0Pe_songsfoWJcbHEChPgc3wLjUJ4tr2AvegGF-3q5IPYT6AgN5UfRdAMH/s1600-h/Toy+Story.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuH8U0HPFyspXRcLVWMAlmrXOxEGJD1Ws2ag6vfMAIyZWAgJF-ZXKjbuONzwv6C_Fnm1yOLsXTMLuPnzYuUo0Pe_songsfoWJcbHEChPgc3wLjUJ4tr2AvegGF-3q5IPYT6AgN5UfRdAMH/s400/Toy+Story.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418259110712484786" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0_JzOSgOwkMMncxQ9q-oAitI1dtubP0em9-cZlyS3BqgPGA6ZDnUWYIkozuYyFNNS8IPxCUZmKGahPcC3On0wtPPQ94fw0m4f2ziWJAyPmZkHcikn6vaIrGVsVqFJzr7cW87VA-Nf9-F/s1600-h/DSCN0029.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0_JzOSgOwkMMncxQ9q-oAitI1dtubP0em9-cZlyS3BqgPGA6ZDnUWYIkozuYyFNNS8IPxCUZmKGahPcC3On0wtPPQ94fw0m4f2ziWJAyPmZkHcikn6vaIrGVsVqFJzr7cW87VA-Nf9-F/s400/DSCN0029.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418258415886937154" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQMCDbt519sCE55XarS_eNjSOOldWiH22aLyPWVvpkdhkma_1439B_LG0tocFQTumNkZX5neRaNAN9oHUmCluAlQZaB5Ef16zRkG-m4YqbrWHzzauwx1xWGEYqf5pQRbIaHdnbaa0P4uS/s1600-h/DSCN0027.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQMCDbt519sCE55XarS_eNjSOOldWiH22aLyPWVvpkdhkma_1439B_LG0tocFQTumNkZX5neRaNAN9oHUmCluAlQZaB5Ef16zRkG-m4YqbrWHzzauwx1xWGEYqf5pQRbIaHdnbaa0P4uS/s400/DSCN0027.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418259502591511954" border="0" /></a><br /><br />We spent most of our days visiting either Magic Kingdom, MGM or Animal Kingdom and spent our afternoons and nights at <a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/" target="_blank">Epcot</a>, eating and drinking around the world.<br /><br />The countries featured at Epcot are:<br /><ul><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/mexico-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Mexico</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/norway-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Norway</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/china-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">China</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/germany-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Germany</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/italy-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Italy</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/american-adventure-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">United States</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/japan-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Japan</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/morocco-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Morocco</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/france-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">France</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/united-kingdom-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">United Kingdom</a></li><li><a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/canada-pavilion/" rel="" target="_blank">Canada</a></li></ul>I spent a lot of time enjoying chocolate croissants at the French patisserie and glasses of a sparkling red wine called <a href="http://www.rosaregale.com/">Rosa Regale</a>. (Yes, I know that it is December. I finally had time to catch up on my magazine reading this weekend. Don't judge me.) <br><br> The featured some great new uses for everyday items:<br><br>Visine Eye Drops<br><ul><li>Turn your eye shadow into eye liner by adding two drops and then apply like liquid liner.</li><li>Dab on a blemish to reduce redness. (It doesn't only take the red out of eyes!)</li> </ul>Johnson's Baby Powder<br><ul><li>Use as a dry shampoo by sprinkling it into roots so it can absorb the oil.</li><li>Thicken eyelashes by using an eye shadow brush to dust lashes between layers of mascara.</li></ul> Q-Tips<br><ul><li>Smudge eye liner after application for a smokier, sexy look.</li><li>Dip Q-Tips in lip or eye colors and then store them in a Ziploc bag to create disposable colors applications that are perfect for traveling.</li> </ul>Hydrogen Peroxide <br><ul><li>The 3% formula of hydrogen peroxide has been approved by the FDA to be used as mouthwash. It also brightens teeth!</li><li>Prevent pimples by applying hydrogen peroxide to "problem areas" with a cotton ball. It will kill bacteria that causes acne.<br> </li></ul>Vaseline<br><ul><li>Use a dab on an old toothbrush and rub over lips in circular motion to exfoliate for a smooth smile.</li><li>Rub onto cuticles every night to heal cracked cuticles.</li></ul>Toothpaste<br><ul> <li>White toothpaste (not gels) has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can be applied to pimples before bed to reduce them in size.</li><li>Red toothpaste will plump up lips like Lip Venom if it is smeared on lips for a couple seconds and then wiped off. The cinnamon in the paste acts as an irritant, which makes lips swell slightly (and safely!).</li> </ul><br>Happy Savings!<br><br> Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-8961552367658301702009-11-21T10:45:00.000-08:002009-11-21T16:27:03.451-08:00How to Buy the Perfect Perfume<span style="font-size:85%;">I love these gift ideas from Sephora. </span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAIa_zOMDsZgoktfK0C7bHES2Lotcf_sumGvk_0p2jTX5zqwWsFKFSGjZSHdltORSMr4UElOIPVcGVaa1Nil1UYOJ20zovhyphenhypheny-rkASw_0sOJdj-02rxO4KwLhxg9DFqJ90uRTVYQQ49Lj9/s1600/Sephora+Sampler.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 250px; height: 250px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAIa_zOMDsZgoktfK0C7bHES2Lotcf_sumGvk_0p2jTX5zqwWsFKFSGjZSHdltORSMr4UElOIPVcGVaa1Nil1UYOJ20zovhyphenhypheny-rkASw_0sOJdj-02rxO4KwLhxg9DFqJ90uRTVYQQ49Lj9/s400/Sephora+Sampler.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5406633123575610978" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:85%;">The <a href="http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P249360&om_mmc=ret-n1-20091120vivabox---all-h4p1b-sa--om-us-sephvivavocher-pl-h-&dicid=402648:15995324336:10579766">Deluxe Fragrance Sampler</a> contains the following 12 fragrance samples:<br /><br />- Aquolina Pink Sugar<br />- Donna Karan Cashmere Mist<br />- Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy<br />- Prada Infusion D'Iris<br />- Dior Addict 2<br />- Emilio Pucci Vivara Variazioni Acqua 330<br />- Kenzo Flower By Kenzo<br />- Stella McCartney Stella Nude<br />- Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue<br />- Harajuku Lovers G<br />- Michael Kors Very Hollywood<br />- Versace Bright Crystal<br /><br />The kit includes a voucher that you bring into a Sephora stores after you decide which one is right for you and trade it in for a full-sized bottle! I couldn't even read it loud to Husband without bursting into giggles. I just stood on the steps trying to get through it, tears running down my face. The cool part is that 100% of the proceeds from the tour and release will go to the <a href="http://www.kokuahawaiifoundation.org/">Kokua Hawaii Foundation</a> and the <a href="http://www.jackjohnsonmusic.com/allatonce/nonprofits">Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation</a> to support environmental, art, and music education around the world.<br /><br />Jack's music always makes me feel happy, relaxed and brings back great memories of an amazing week Husband and I spent on Maui. His cousin was getting married at a resort in Lahaina and while Better Together was playing during the wedding dance, her brother her brother leaned back in his chair and said, "Sing on Brother Jack."<br /><br />Husband and I decided that we needed to figure out who "Brother Jack" was and we ended up buying the <span style="font-style: italic;">In Between Dreams</span> CD and listened to it in our rental car as we drove along the Road to Hana. It was an amazing drive and listening to the CD by the Hawaiian naive only enhanced our experience. Thanks to that drive, Banana Pancakes is one of my all-time favorite songs.<br /><br />Sing on, Brother Jack...<br /><br /><img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyNTcyMDYzMzczNTcmcHQ9MTI1NzIwNjM*NTk*NSZwPTE4MDMxJmQ9Jmc9MSZvPTI*YjUyYjIwMzFkNTQwZTI4MmEyY2U2NWUxZDc4ZGQ4.gif" /><center><p style="visibility:visible;"><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/swf/mp3/mixpod.swf" height="311" width="410" style="width:410px;height:311px"><param name="movie" value="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/swf/mp3/mixpod.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="salign" value="TL" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><param name="flashvars" value="myid=32564209&path=2009/10/19&mycolor=222222&mycolor2=77ADD1&mycolor3=FFFFFF&autoplay=false&rand=0&f=4&vol=100&pat=0&grad=false&ow=410&oh=311"/></object><br><a href="http://www.mixpod.com/playlist/32564209"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-get-tracks.gif" alt="Music" title="Get Music Tracks!" border="0"></a><a href="http://www.mixpod.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-create.gif" alt="Playlist" title="Create Your Free Playlist!" border=0></a><a href="http://www.mixpod.com/ringtones/32564209"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-get-ringtones.gif" alt="Ringtones" title="Get Ringtones From This Playlist!" border="0"></a><br />Create a <a href="http://mixpod.com">MySpace Music</a> <a href="http://mixpod.com">Playlist</a> at <a href="http://mixpod.com">MixPod.com</a></p></center>Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-54106007908224878472009-11-01T13:13:00.000-08:002009-11-01T13:46:41.137-08:00Purple Satchel Lovin'I have been on the hunt for a new purse to love, which has taken surpisingly longer than I would ever have guessed. All of a sudden, I found TWO!<br /><br />First, by the lovely Ms. Tory Burch, the <a href="http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=448554&CategoryID=10014&PageID=10013*1*24*-1*-1*1">Dena Leather Satchel in Eggplant</a>:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=448554&CategoryID=10014&PageID=10013*1*24*-1*-1*1"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1imeBMcwHHYbhVsZxQUu2QZrSW-iEu4QqJQU3RgIrry_pJffhX5gHFKg6JfhwaMH4bMW-c8BGjsXIjdPpfQ8MaWTp-FqIH1us3yswDFT40Vhyn6ySeIAQEqJOqKoV6A6zd5UJnpkb7fAM/s400/TB+Eggplant+Satchel.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399246960226368114" border="0" /></a><br />This bag is gorgeous and the leather looks amazingly soft. Yum! It is a such a classy bag in a great color.<br /><br />Second, the BCBGeneration Handbag, <a href="http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=414709&BannerID=PD220&PartnerID=LINKSHARE&LinkshareID=neQRQBqOKtQ-iRORFquR2U_lhGAVHb6qAA">Zip Ruffle Satchel in Plum</a>:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=414709&BannerID=PD220&PartnerID=LINKSHARE&LinkshareID=neQRQBqOKtQ-iRORFquR2U_lhGAVHb6qAA"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sYGTSjjBxOdc3ee4NcDaojezNX2v3-BoAhr46JYPtkwWQGI2oh3F4v4lWnRz0Tr7YyTwtRbn4aFzgqqXwS5SplPClCfkV5tf-jauwjrcJHGxBNUWcICj2fwrD2EsaIpvDKlHCA7SjCiB/s400/BCBGeneration-Zip-Ruffle_A0BA8CC1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399248558819399922" border="0" /></a>The ruffles are so fun and they make the bag so unique. The soft plum color offsets the toughness of the zippers, so it would be an easy bag to dress up or down. It is also the cheaper or the two, so it depend on whether I feel like treating myself to something special, or just add a fun new bag to my handbag repertoire.<br /><br />In short, I love, love, love them! I haven't bought anything fabulously purple lately either...it looks like it is about time! Either one of these bags would be a nice change from my consistently black handbags!Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-14855464300217185592009-10-28T14:28:00.001-07:002009-10-28T16:16:22.727-07:00Thank Goodness for Tivo and Mia Goes MIA<p style="text-align: center;" class="mobile-photo"><a href="http://www.fox.com/dance/"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqAIU6e3TtlluKWvByLzhrnpg02reOd9phJERyeVnJfehxv7CXOC8irvJz-TM8V3ME90tE3OZwwHtVCSgeqpOQMoYJ8DMg5KjyubLQkDTjBSDqi1CdRI5MqBLEd0DRwSuf618Bh6JH0iHx/s320/SYTYCD+-+S6-703873.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397765876730805538" border="0" /></a></p><a href="http://www.fox.com/dance/">So You Think You Can Dance</a> is on Mondays and Tuesdays now? Didn't it used to be one Wednesdays and Thursdays or am I just losing my mind? Quite possibly, I guess! If it wasn't for Tivo, I would have totally missed it! Whew! I know what you are thinking: "That would have been a crisis!" Agreed.<br /><br />It is a good thing that season 2 of the <a href="http://www.bravotv.com/the-rachel-zoe-project">Rachel Zoe Project</a> is over because with <a href="http://www.cwtv.com/shows/gossip-girl">Gossip Girl</a> also on Mondays, it would have been hard deciding which two of the shows to record! Thank goodness Husband has his very own Tivo so he can record Monday Night Football. I think we would be in trouble if we only had one box! I must say, this post makes me realize that I watch some impressive TV shows and I am probably too old to watch most of them. It is good thing that it is free country! Not the Tae Bo, "hi ya-ing around my living room" kind, but the "punching and kicking a heavy bag" kind.<br /><br />When work is stressful and life feels like it is out of control, I can always go to my kickboxing class and take it out on the bag. I love coming home after class, no longer a Little Ball of Hate (LBOH), but a happy Little Ball of Sweat (LBOS). I had no idea that I would enjoy hitting and kicking something so much. I shouldn't have been surprised. I have been known to have a slight touch of the "angries" from time to time.<br /><br />I love my boxing gloves, too. I have this <a href="http://www.centurymartialarts.com/Gloves/Bag_Gloves/Century_Leather_Wrap_Bag_Gloves.aspx">pair in blue/white</a> and I keep them in my car. I never know when I might need them! It makes me happy to look at them on the floor of my car. For some reason, they make me feel like an athlete. For someone who has been the antithesis of an athlete all her life, this is a big deal for me.<br /><br />I have been going to my heavy bag kickboxing class for a little over a year and it is time to renew my membership. I haven't decided if I want to pay for another year because it is expensive and sometimes I kind of feel like my body is craving something new. It is hard to justify when I have access to a free gym at work that also offers free fitness classes of all kinds. Good classes too, taught by good instructors at various times during the day.<br /><br />I could go to kickboxing over my lunch hour and get an extra hour of sleep. It has been nearly impossible to get out of bed in the morning to make it in time for my 6:15 class. I have only been to 1 class a week for the past 3 weeks. Not an impressive statistic. But, when I finally got by butt to class yesterday morning, I remembered how much I enjoy the class. I never push myself that hard when I am working out by myself and it feels so good to reach a "Level 10" in a workout. And I got to hit the heavy bag. A lot.<br /><br />I think this post may have just answered my question about renewing my membership. The gym at work might be free, but there are no heavy bag classes.<br /><br />Long live the heavy bag!Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-92107888314788066832009-10-18T08:29:00.000-07:002009-10-18T10:47:26.566-07:00Happy New Shoes Day!The search for the elusive perfect pair a red heels has ended.<br /><br />My new shoes came in the mail this weekend! Thanks to my favorite blogger, Chloe, at <a href="http://chloeconspiracy.blogspot.com/2009/10/ooh.html">The Chloe Conspiracy,</a> I am the proud new owner this fabulous pair of red heels by Baby Phat.<br /><br />In order to compensate for my 5'2" frame the 4-inch stiletto heel with a ¼ inch covered platform is exactly what I need to feel like I have joined the land of adult height. These shoes are surprisingly comfortable as well. I can't wait to show them off!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.heels.com/womens-shoes/cynthia-heel-red.html"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUul-OHxQqN16IQ2MxcHz7-NhuBk3MAE9XcktWX-CDRDEFiy5F9DC2UtOSSk2DHCg4cRvrlkqZNWUIGlvkUlAzsMpb877u6cR-6nbNz9bICLrZpiwf5fp8LLoM8tXxsdneie3ul9OSjcjd/s320/Baby+Phat+Cynthia+Red.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393978954881906802" border="0" /></a>Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-66545811048022160762009-10-15T12:16:00.001-07:002009-10-15T19:08:05.720-07:00The Job Search ContinuesIt seems like the job search process is designed to make a person feel bad about themselves.<br /><br />With nearly 10% unemployment, it is easy to understand that there are millions of people looking for work and hundreds of people applying for the same jobs. I am sure that this overwhelming response to job posting makes it hard to respond to each and everyone job applicant personally.<br /><br />BUT - I would like to know why it is so hard to treat people like human beings after they have actually interviewed for a the job in question. Do people forget what is like to be on the other side of a job interview? How, after the interview, you hope every phone call is a the one that will offer you the opportunity of your dreams? Or at least a change from your current nightmare?<br /><br />Interviewees put time, money and effort into preparing for and attending job interviews. Why, then, does all that count for so little? Why does it take over a month to hear back about a SECOND job interview? Just to hear that the answer is, "I am sorry, but we have elected to go with another (and usually external) candidate." Well, that was tough. I am sure that took a month to compose.<br /><br />Thanks.Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-25425067367529277782009-04-20T18:36:00.000-07:002009-10-22T17:59:53.229-07:00Death to Comic Sans<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bancomicsans.com/"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_zfpm3LgwsN9quxhGu4GvFhMd_oDGvNc-plvhTrCCepLTsy5FmO86LzW5tO1ydsKA4yAHhBQaWA3Zev15ms7Uuo7HUMIxu-X61LtBvaGJEH4NVUgKFkJDVQc4RZiceptUusqQHrptPxs3/s400/bunnypunch.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395593616719085570" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Why is this font still included in word processing software released after 2000? It is a slippery little font.<br /><br />At least I know that I am not <a href="http://http//online.wsj.com/article/SB123992364819927171.html">alone</a>.<br /><br />Now, this is a <a href="http://bancomicsans.com/home.html">campaign</a> that I can support. I wonder if there are any remaining government funds available to further this worthy cause. There has to be some public good that would come from Comic Sans being eradicated from font selection everywhere...I will try to think of what it might be...Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-16443789426360377442009-04-20T16:56:00.001-07:002009-04-20T18:05:25.501-07:00Crappy Movie Monday<span style="font-style: italic;">My Best Friend's Girl<br /><br /></span>I get a Redbox code every Monday for the free DVD rental. Unsurprisingly, the high quality movies are few and far between. But, did I mention these crappy movies are available for F-R-E-E? How can I pass that up? The consequences for such a rental are pretty minor.<br /><ol><li>I hate the movie and shut it off.</li><li>I waste 1.5 - 2 hours watching a bad movie.</li><li>I don't watch it.</li></ol>And the worst possible outcome: I return it after 9 p.m. tomorrow night and have to pay $1.<br /><br />I figured I would take the chance. I know, I know, I am quite the risk taker. You should probably warn your mom about me.<br /><br />Today the primo choice available was <span style="font-style: italic;">My Best Friend's Girl</span>, starting Dane Cook, Kate Hudson and Jason Biggs. The key to enjoying these movies is to completely lower your standards. If you have zero to no expectations, it is hard to be disappointed. As expected, MBFG was pretty craptastic. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being <span style="font-style: italic;">Freddy Got Fingered </span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">The Godfather </span><span>being 5</span>, I give it a 3. Which means, it met all my expectations of being offensive, predicatable and (at times) relatively amusing. I am embarrassed to say that I laughed a couple times (don't tell anyone!).<br /><br />What did I like?<br /><ol><li>I liked most of the songs in the movie: <span style="font-style: italic;">99 Red Ballons, Mercy, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">Crimson and Clover, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">The Man Comes Around </span>(who doesn't love Johnny Cash?)<span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;">, At Last</span></span><span style="font-style: italic;">, Have a Little Faith in Me </span><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span></span><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">My Best Friend's Girl</span><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"></span></span><span style="font-style: italic;">. </span>The fun soundtrack was probably the best part of the movie!<br /></li><li><span style="font-style: italic;"></span>I like Kate Hudson. (Again, don't tell anyone. I know, I know...her acting range is nonexistant. She is the Queen of Lame Romantic Comedies...I still like her.)</li><li>Dane Cook makes me laugh. (Our secret.)<br /></li><li>It made me laugh. I would like to thank my low expectations for this.</li><li>"Don't." "I'm don't-ing."<br /></li></ol>What didn't I like?<br /><ol><li>I don't like Jason Biggs. (Again, a one dimensional actor, but I just don't enjoy his dimension. It is my perogative.)</li><li>Dane Cook is a terrible actor. Is anyone surprised by this observation? I think not.</li><li>Spoiler Alert -- Although, I truly doubt it, due to how predictable it was: Kate Hudson's character, Alexis, is stupid. It annoyed me. She was surprised that their relationship meant nothing. They never left the bedroom. How surprising. (Even though he really loves her. Ug. Lame. She makes him into a good person and begs for her forgiven. And then, of course, she takes him back. Duh.)</li><li>They have a loud smack talk showdown in the middle of a restaurant.<br /></li><li>What was Alec Baldwin doing in this movie?<br /></li></ol>Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00694140290315861393noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533368567326736967.post-41194819539912094452009-04-20T16:28:00.000-07:002009-04-20T16:55:48.425-07:00Don't Quote Me<div style="text-align: center;">"A <em>journey</em> of a <em>thousand miles</em><span style="font-style: italic;"> begins with a single step."</span><br />- Confucius<br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br />I love quotes and I find this one to be particularly motivating. Big goals and aspirations seem like a lot of things, but doable isn't always one of them. They can be completely overwhelming. Unconscionable.<br />Impossible.<br />Unassailable.<br />Lots of -able words that don't happen to be synonyms with attainable.<br /><br /></div></div>And they are...if you don't ever try. Trying isn't doing a lot of talking and thinking these goals. Trying is an action word that means that you actually do something about it. Taking steps that will actually move you closed to the desired outcome.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">"Do or do not.
